Jordanian Translators’ Association (JTA)
Jordanian Translators’ Association (JTA) is affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Culture and the Societies Register since 1993.
The Association is a non-profit body that shall not have political, regional, sectarian, or tribal objectives and aims at the following:
1. to promote the importance and activate the practice of translation in Jordan from various languages into Arabic and vice versa as to contribute to the development of the cultural movement nationally as well as Arab worldwide.
2. to elevate translation in Jordan by means of framing and standardizing quality and developing the translators’ professional efficiency.
3. to exchange relevant translation expertise and information and to maintain close relations between members of the Association themselves on the one hand and between the Association and other associations of the like on the other.
4. to coordinate with competent bodies to guarantee the professional rights of the translators.
5.Training and preparation of certified translators.
6. to provide official and non-official institutions with working expertise and counsel.
The Association shall operate to maintain its purposes by means of the following:
a) to deliver lectures and hold seminars and conferences regarding the field aspects of translation.
b) to organize training sessions and workshops.
c) to prepare and promote educational programs concerning translation.
d) to encourage, help and support educational institutions to establish committees and clubs for translation for its students and staff.
e) to provide public libraries and information centers with data about translation and translated works.
f) to issue specialized publications in translation and translated works.
g) to strengthen ties between members of the Association by means of social and artistic activities.
h) to take on any other activities that help to maintain the purposes and goals of the Association.
